✨The Dream CRM🔮
according to an actual CPA CFP®
Ok, this is my last email on CRM for a while, actually will be taking a break from writing until Monday. Writing daily has its perks though, like impressions:
…
The cool part about playing in traffic is that people respond…
And sometimes their responses are the most articulate explanation of what you’ve been trying to say for months.
Well, Gabriel Kaplan, CPA CFP®, responded, and it was just about perfect.
The Dream CRM
I’m using Folk.app but it doesn’t solve my needs. I’ve been testing out Attio and it seems that it integrates better with Granola (AI Notetaker) and some other core apps I’m using but it isn’t solving the big tech stack issue.
If you had to define what the CRM does: The CRM is the hub where you (A) track and (B) engage with (1) prospective and (2) current clients.
In terms of tracking: Everything needs to feed in to the CRM. Every piece of communication needs to get logged in the CRM.
I use text messages (including Whatsapp), email, and phone calls, video calls (transcripts). They all need to integrate to my CRM. I also want contact enrichment via Linkedin, and other private sources. I want to know if they moved, if they had a kid. Basically, I want to learn if they had a “life event.”
I also want to track where we are in the service process. The workflows need to live there too. The billing needs to integrate. I want to know how much I’m billing them, when the contract renews, etc.
In terms of engaging: I need to be able to communicate on every platform in the CRM.
If it isn’t making the calls, then it needs to integrate with the call provider. The CRM should have core functionalities but it needs to be architected for native integrations. Zapier integrations aren’t stable long-term.
Just about perfect, right?
Like duh, that’s what we all want!
It took an advisor to actually explain it.
And GOOD NEWS!, we’re getting sooooo close!
Slant CRM has an internal notetaker, automatic contact enrichment, opportunity tracking, tasks, projects (an excellent take on workflows, btw), it even has natural language prospecting where you enter your ideal prospect:
Once it pulls a list of those leads, you can add them as prospects and enroll them in a email / task sequence that it auto-drafts for you with a quick explanation.
Here’s what it doesn’t have yet:
Money-in-Motion events - I still am recommending WealthFeed for that
Billing information - they are building out their “accounts” feature, I don’t know if it pulls in transaction history, but if it does, they could compile fee data
It doesn’t integrate yet with the best phone/texting platform for advisors, but I think they’re working on that :)
It doesn’t pull in LinkedIn messages, but it does pull in the person’s profile pic if you drop in their LinkedIn url. Very nice feature!
Now you don’t have to manually add photos like in Advyzon, Redtail, Wealthbox, etc. Brilliant!
It doesn’t integrate with WhatsApp
Ok, so it isn’t “The Dream CRM” yet, but it’s darn close.
Now you may be wondering, is Slant paying Joe to say all these nice things? Nope. I wish they were. It’s just soo good and soo what I’ve been looking for that I’m just excited to share about it.

Never before (well, that I know of), have financial advisors, consultants, advisortech builders, AND the investors been able to collaborate so closely in building the future of MoneyTech.
Or even just the future of Money.
AI is going to drastically change how we all make a living, possibly…, maybe…, it’s gonna do something, alright??
See you Monday.
